About This Item

Chapel Hill, NC, US: The University of North Carolina Press, 1965. Hardcover. Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. xvi, 240pp, 4 black and white photographic plates. Green cloth-covered boards; gilt titles on spine; green illustrated endpapers; 2 line drawn sketches. 8vo. Slightly sun-faded spine, titles fading; lightly rubbed and bumped spine ends; corners lightly rubbed, small bump to fore edge of boards. Top text block edge slightly dusty. Lender's stamps, bar code and markings on endpapers and copyright page. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Dust jacket has light shelf wear, chipping to edges, mirrors book damage, not price clipped. This notable study, gleaned from a diligent search of original sources, relates the theater to the general history of the times and will prove essential to historians, especially those with an interest in colonial culture and the drama and literature of eighteenth-century America.
