The dedication copy, briefly inscribed "Guy - 1985" beneath the printed dedication to the poet, writer, and translator Christopher Middleton, from whose library we acquired it. He and Davenport had been classmates at Merton College, Oxford University, where Davenport was a Rhodes scholar.
