Austin: Shoal Creek, 1976 (1972). 2nd printing. Hardcover. NEAR FINE. over 100 full page color reproductions of the original watercolors, oversize bound in gilt-stamped and blind embossed decorative brown leatherette, with gilt titles, folio. Spine and 2 corners bumped. No names.

The original copy was a gift to her husband General Albert Sidney Johnston, C.S.A. . The magnificent detailed 1857 Map of Texas and Part of New Mexico as compliled under the direction of Maj. Emory located on endpapers was reproduced to help identify for the reader the area covered by General Johnston when he was stationed in Texas as Paymaster for the United States Army. Includes a biography of Mrs. Johnston by Mildred Mayhall. Winner of the 1972 Summerfield Roberts Award.
