Private West served in the famed Fourth Texas Infantry, Hood's Texas Brigade, Longstreet's Corp, Army of Northern Virginia. This brigade is arguably the most fighting and best unit on either side. In all the major fights in the Eastern Tether and also sent West in time to fight at Chickamauga. Contains many personal anecdotes and frequent use of names of fellow soldiers. West became a judge and speaker at Confederate reunions, in fact, a text of an 1897 speech he gave in Texas is included.
