Communist propaganda publication about the collectivization. Showing the development of 20 agricultural co-operatives in Vas county in Hungary.

The agricultural collectivization in Hungary started in 1948 after the Communists took over the power in 1947. They followed the Stalinist way and started to fight against the "kulaks" the larger landholders with confiscating their properties. At the same time economic, political and direct police pressure were used to coerce peasants to join co-operatives, however these efforts were not very successful. After the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the re-establishment of the political order, officials began to draw up a plan for a gradual collectivization drive. This publication was issued to propagate this second wave of collectivization, showing the early "brave and advanced" co-operatives whose within the preceding 10 years developed so much, all the members became happy and well-to-do in their humble communist way. The co-operatives had their own names, typical of the time, named after Lenin, Michurin, Freedom or Red Star.
