About This Item

(New York): Random House, 1961. First edition. Fine in very good plus to near-fine jacket.. First printing of this rhythmic counting reader, one of the hardest to find Seuss books in the first edition. TEN APPLES ON TOP! was meant as a follow-up book for early elementary school readers after they had succeeded with GREEN EGGS AND HAM: silly and fun, both books were meant to amuse children while repeating the simple words in clever ways for memory and practice. A great copy that comes directly from the stock of Aleph-Bet Books, the firm of Seuss bibliographers Helen Younger and Marc Younger. 9'' x 6.5''. Original glazed pictorial boards, no "Beginner Books" logo on front board. In original unclipped (195/195) color pictorial dust jacket. Color pictorial endpapers. Number 19 in the Beginning Beginner Book series. Illustrated by Roy McKie and written by Seuss using the pseudonym of LeSieg. 64 pages. Jacket with a couple short closed tears and faint rubbing at spine ends.
