About This Item
Boston: Houghton Mifflin Co.. Very Good in Very Good- dj. 1954. First Edition. Hardcover. [mild shelfwear, lower corners bumped; jacket has some wear at edges/corners, some paper loss at top of spine]. Jacket blurbs about the author by Dylan Thomas, Arthur Mizener and George Orwell. And here's an interesting bibliographic note -- the author's first two "proletarian" novels, published in the 1930's (which earned him a citation in Rideout's "The Radical Novel in the United States"), are curiously absent from the list of his published works in this volume. (Or maybe not so curiously, as Rideout also notes that Newhouse had "broken with the [Communist] Party" by 1949.) .
