New York: Columbia University Press, 1944. xviii, 237 pp. 23.5 x 16 cm. Blue cloth covered boards with gilt titling to spine, in a yellow dustjacket with maroon titling. First edition, review copy dated Decmember 18, 1944. Toning to spine of jacket, wtih 2 x 2.5 cm chip to tail. Short closed tears to either side of head of spine of jacket, with a light dampstain to head of jacket near spine. Jacket is unclipped with original price of $3.50, and is protected in a mylar cover. Some light rubbing to spine ends of book, with some light toning to very top edge of spine and boards. Stamped on front free endpaper with "REVIEW COPY / DEC 18 1944 $3 50 / Columbia University Press". Some freckling to endpapers and light age toning throughout, otherwise interior is clean and unmarked. Binding firm. An excellent review copy of the first edition, very rare in its original dustjacket. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
