With 200 black-and-white illustrations. First edition (first printing). Green cloth with yellow illustration and gold lettering on the cover and spine, and gilt top edge. A very good hardcover copy; no dust jacket. Front hinge cracked. Inscribed to a previous owner: 'With the love of E. E. Hale & E. B. Hale [Hale's wife, Emily Baldwin] / Nov. 14, 1906.' Uncommon signed.
