About This Item
Saddle-stitched binding remains sound. Clean, unmarked interior. Some toning and light to moderate shelf-wear to the exterior. A reprint of Volume I, Number 8 of the A∴A∴'s 'Review of Scientific Illuminism', first published on the autumn equinox of 1912. This exploration of the tarot precedes the Thoth deck's creation by more than 30 years, and it's publication by 60, giving the reader unique insight into how Crowley's approach evolved in the intervening years. When Samuel Weiser first reprinted the issue in 1976, they retained the original typography and treated the cover image with some resonant photo-offset recolorization; by the time this fourth printing hit the shelves, the venerable occult publishers were in the process of moving from their Manhattan location to the coast of southern Maine.
