About This Item

G.P.Putnam's Sons, London, 1927. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. First edition, one of 1,000 deluxe large paper copies which were issued simultaneously with the standard trade edition. Royal 8vo. xii, 255pp. Quarter tan buckram with cloth-covered sides and a gilt lettered and bordered leather spine label, the latter lightly chafed in places. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. The title page printed in brown and black. Free endpapers lightly browned and with just a hint of browning to the margins of the terminal leaf, and a little spotting to the pastedowns. The front hinge has been professionally reinforced yet this remains a quite excellently preserved copy, with virtually no trace of the usual discolouration to the tan buckram backstrip. No dust wrapper called for, but housed is a custom-made slipcase. Laid-in is a copy of the Henry Williamson Society reprint of the original pre-publication prospectus and order form for the deluxe signed edition of 100 copies..
