London, Oxford University Press, 1968.. FIRST EDITION 1968, 4to, 285 x 225 mm, 11¼ x 8¾ inches, green cloth spine, colour illustrated white boards, pink endpapers, a picture book with no pagination. Lively coloured illustrations to every page. Taresh was the naughtiest boy in his Indian hill village, both at school and at the tea plantation where he worked. Sent away from the village in disgrace, he finds a role in life helping others who are worse off than himself. No inscriptions, a Fine copy in Fine clean DUSTWRAPPER, price clipped. Papas was born in 1927 in S. Africa, he had a Greek father and a German mother. He worked as a newspaper cartoonist first in S. Africa and from 1959 for the Guardian and later the Sunday Times.
