London; Hurst and Blackett Ltd, 1903., 1903. Hardcover. FIRST EDITION. Large octavo. Xxiii, [1], pp., 371, 4 (advertisements). Dark blue cloth gilt with gilt-stamped crustacean motif to upper board. Illustrated including colour frontispiece, eleven colour & numerous black-and-white plates, plus nine folding plates & maps, of which four are in colour, and illustrations in text. Cover cloth lightly worn with bumped lower corners. PRESENTATION COPY with presentation plate from the Tanganyika Exploration Committee pasted to ffep. Small catalogue label to front paste-down and marks where labels have been removed to both paste-downs. A little foxing & tanning to endpapers otherwise a very clean copy. Scarce in this condition.
