An oversize history of the American west from about 1840 to 1900 with an emphasis on the exploits (and crimes) of the lawmen and outlaws of that period, including the Earps, Mastersons, Wild Bill Hickock, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, etc. Lavishly illustrated with full color reproductions of artifacts from the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum and the Buffalo Bill Historical Center including artwork by N.C. Wyeth as well as rare photographs. Includes a bibliography and index. First edition, third printing. About 10 1/4 x 13 1/4 inches, 192 pages bound in red paper-covered boards with gold lettering on spine. End pages decorated with full color photos of western ghost town. Glossy dustjacket shows hand-tinted reproduction of 1858 tintype of Wild Bill Hickock. Back panel shows pair of weapons exhibits and two blurbs praising book. Boards and text of this copy are "as new" with no noticeable flaws or damage. Not ex-library, not remaindered. Clean, complete and unmarked. Dustjacket shows just a touch of edge and surface wear with no tears, creases, scratches or chipping. Not price-clipped. A very collectable copy.
