Paris: S.i., 1930. First Edition. Late issue of this fragile and short-lived modernist literary magazine, a bilingual publication under the sole direction of founder and editor Harold Salemson (1910-1988). Only eight issues were published between the end of 1928 through June, 1930. Contains two early poems by Paul Bowles - "Hymn" and "America" (published under the name Paul Frederic Bowles) - with contributions by Michel J. Arnaud, Witter Bynner, André Chamson, Vera Fancott, Richard Johns, Leon Lait, Ludwig Lewishon, Norman Macleod, Julian Shapiro, and Joseph Upper, et al. A facsimile edition was produced by the University of Wisconsin Press in the early 2000's, but surviving original issues are uncommon. Miller C57-58. One of 250 numbered copies, this being copy no.111. Octavo (16.5cm); original printed wrappers; 75,[5]pp; text is in French and English. Signed by Paul Bowles at his contribution on p.29. Light wear and a few tiny tears to extremities, two small splash marks along upper edge of wrappers, with subtle tanning to text edges; Very Good.
