Rust-red cloth boards with gilt title to spine. Light rubbing to edges. Quarter-sized water stain to front board. Rubbing to edges and corners of dustjacket. Two two-inch closed tears and creases to bottom of dustjacket front cover. Spine and hinges are tight. Protected in mylar. "I was raised in a south-western Nebraska soddy... 10 miles south of Stockville, 13 1/2 miles north of Indianola, and 3 1/2 miles northwest of the now-vanished Post Office and store of Freedom...." Vernam (1896-1980) wrote comprehensive histories of man on horseback and western saddles. Also known for his Westerns. (Nebraska authors site).
