About This Item
Lovell, Coryell & Company; (1891/1895). First Thus . Hardcover. A separate edition of this book, first published by E. L. G. Steele in 1891, this edition was published in 1895. Very good in dark green cloth with just a little wear at the spine ends. With the ownership signature of Mrs. E. V. Roddin on the front endpaper and on the title page. Mr. Roddin was a well known Chicago jeweler in the last half of the 19th century and beyond. There is also the small signature at the top of the front endpaper of Vincent Starrett, with a date of 11-8-'17. Starrett was Bierce's biographer, bibliographer and literary champion. This issue appears to be much scarcer than the 1891 Steele first edition, and is made scarcer so by the Starrett association.
