About This Item

Putnam, London, 1934. Book. Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. First Edition (first printing) - this copy signed by the author on the front free endpaper. 8vo. 258pp. Bright orange cloth lettered in black at the spine and upper board and illustrated with two black-stamped Tunnicliffe decorations. In addition to the colour plates Tunnicliffe also contributes nearly sixty chapter header and tailpiece drawings and vignettes. Cloth a little darkened, marked and rubbed, with a little light wear to the spine ends and corner tips. Top edge dust soiled and with a little marking and very light spotting to half a dozen preliminary and concluding leaves. A good copy, particularly crisp and bright internally. Lacking the extremely uncommon dust wrapper. A collection of thirty-one fairy stories penned by the noted actor and West End director, beautifully enhanced with these early Tunnicliffe illustrations..
