Harrap. 1913. 1st ed thus, quarto, original leather binding with blindstamped decoration upper board and decorative gilt lettering spine, eight tipped-in colour plates, numerous lithographs and line drawings in colour and b&w and illus endpapers all by Willy Pogany. Printed note on last page: "The entire book, including auto-lithographs, is printed by off-set lithography by Vincent Brooks, Day and Sons Ltd. London, the four-colour reproductions are the work of The Dux Engraving Co. Ltd. Glasgow." Some rubbing and scraping of leather to corners particularly lower corner, internally clean and in excellent condition. Very good condition. A re-telling of Wagner's Romantic opera, itself based on earlier sources. Lavishly illustrated throughout by the renowned Hungarian artist Willy Pogany. 1st edition thus. Leather.
