About This Item

London: Hodder & Stoughton, 1996. First edition of this "tour de force in which almost every convention of the classic spy novel is violated" (The New York Times). Octavo, original half cloth, pictorial endpapers. Boldly signed by John le Carre on a bookplate affixed to the title page. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. "Geopolitical conspiracy on a grand scale. By turns comic and tragic, this is the kind of reading experience we have come to expect from le Carré Surely nobody writes this kind of novel better than le Carré, not even the late Graham Greene, whose Our Man in Havana (1958) was the inspiration for this novel" (Library Journal). The film adaptation was directed by John Boorman, and starred Pierce Brosnan, Geoffrey Rush and Jamie Lee Curtis.
