Lavishly illustrated with 176 full-page glossy reproductions of drawings by Taddeo Zuccaro. Includes Preface; Dates in the Life of Taddeo Zuccaro and of Frederico Zuccaro up to 1566; Bibliography; Introduction; Catalogue of Drawings; and Indexes. FINE/FINE. The book shed new light on distinguishing between the works of the two Zuccaro brothers and further interprets the development of Mannerism. This book will be invaluable not only to students of the Renaissance and Mannerism, but also to all connoisseurs, collectors and specialists in drawings. The 176 plates reproduce 138 drawings, most of them previously unpublished and wrongly attributed, as well as a great part of his surviving oeuvre, also largely unpublished. J. A. Gere was the Deputy Keeper of Prints and Drawings in the British Museum. He has selected and catalogued exhibitions of Zuccaro drawings in the Uffizi and Louvre. He is the author of Raphael and His Circle (with Philip Pouncey, 1962) ; Taddeo Zuccaro: His Development Studied in His Drawings (1969) ; Drawings of Michelangelo (1975) ; Geoffrey Madan's Notebooks (editor, 1982) ; Drawings by Raphael (1983) ; Pre-Raphaelite Drawings in the British Museum (1994) ; Pre-Raphaelite Paintings (with R. Ironside, 2000) ; as well as numerous scholarly articles. . The volume is in virtually perfect condition, with no ownership marks and only the slightest shelf-wear along the top and bottom edges and at the head and heel of the spine.
