About This Item

Chatto & Windus, London, 1951. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. The first UK edition (first printing). 8vo. 248pp. Red cloth with slightly dulled gold lettering to spine. A little discolouration to the lower edge of the rear board, probably a result of mild damp. Front endpaper lightly browned and spotted, and the rear endpaper a little more so, and with a small area of tanning to the final text leaf. Very good in tanned and dust soiled non-price-clipped dust wrapper, chipped with a little loss at the head of the spine panel and with some further evidence of damp staining to the rear panel and internally. Tiny dealer ink-stamp to the base of the front pastedown. The second of Davies' three 'Samuel Marchbanks' books which gather his pseudonymous contributions to the 'Peterborough Examiner'. Of the three Marchbanks collections Davies produced, only this second volume received a UK publication. Spadoni & Grant A8a.1..
