London: Her Majesty's Stationery Office. 1970. 2 volumes 4to, original boards, dustjackets, colour frontis to both volumes and three colour plates vol I, numerous b&w plates, b&w text illus, pp 398 plus 140 b&w plates. Complete set. The volumes have been carefully covered in a protective plastic which does not adhere to the original dustjackets in any way and can be removed. Both volumes enclosed in original cardboard slipcase with title label. Closed tear to top edge of dustjacket vol I, slight damage to rear inner flap vol II, business card for antique edged weapons taped to protective cover at inner flap vol II, o/w very good in very good dustjacket, in slightly worn original slipcase. The definitive reference work on naval swords. Based on the sword collection (which includes dirks and cutlasses) in the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich. Profusely illustrated. 1st edition.
