First edition, first issue with 'Published, February, 1915' on copyright page and in original, scarce, jacket.Illustrated by John Wolcott Adams. Jacket is housed in a protective sheet which is unclipped with some chipping at corner turn ins, and at the head and tail of the spine. Overall, a very good jacket with a clear illustration. Bound in decorative blue cloth with a winged sword and gilded writing to the front and spine. Gentle bumps at lower corners and at head and tail of spine. Solid and square. Small and short inscription to ffep and smaller to rear pastedown. The interior is clean and clear. The story of a stern mother, loyal son, his girl, war, and Kentucky.
