Recent navy blue half calf over matching blue cloth-covered boards, raised bands and gilt-ruled red morocco title labels to spine, top edges gilt. A clean, fine set, inside and out. Waugh's acclaimed trilogy chronicles Guy Crouchback throughout the Second World War, somewhat mirroring the author's own wartime experiences, especially his role in the Battle of Dakar as a Royal Marine Commando. Chosen by Anthony Burgess as one of the best ninety-nine novels in English published since 1939.
