Johnny Fletcher was always out to make a quick buck, and when a crap game put him into the music business he thought he could quickly turn that into some easy money. But when two murders happened it put him into the detective mode. Along with his partner Sam Cragg, who provides some amusement along the way, Johnny finds himself deep in the case with complications arising from one of the victim's girlfriends, a crippled millionare revenge seeking bookie, and an insane chemist who loves to blow things up. Fast paced, action driven, written the way pulp stories were written back in the day, Frank Gruber has come up with another fine tale.
