The author's reminiscences of his time as office-boy, then apprentice in the Fitting, Turning and Locomotive Erecting shops at the Swindon works between 1944 and 1951, so in the final years of the Great Western Railway and the start of British Railways. 192pp, 16pp b&w illustrations, 23 b&w drawings in the text..
