Foster was raised in New Orleans and is an editor at Fence Magazine and The Fence Magazine Review. Beginning in the Fall of 2021, she has served as the George and Judy Marcus Endowed Chair at San Francisco State University, and is a part of the San Francisco Writers Grotto.
