Octavo, first edition, pp. ix, 303, 4 (ads), maroon cloth boards with gilt-stamped lettering to spine, blind-stamped logo on front, top edge tinted green. Conrad's last novel, set in the Napoleonic era and left unfinished. Condition of this book: Very good with light soiling at edges, a bit of wear at bottom edges of boards, touch of foxing to the title page. The jacket is good but no better, misfolded at the front flap, with creases and chips; rear panel is dust darkened. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing.
