About This Item
London & New York: Oxford University Press, 1958. Hardcover. Fine. From Volume II: [vii]-viii, [1], [897]-1445p. Followed by [From Volume IV]: [ix]-xiv(p.) plus 257 plates (numbered 258-510). Followed further by: typed index of [25] pages composed of entries culled from Besterman's compilation (published by Oxford in 1958). Hardcover in baby blue buckram. 37 cm. A tiny bit of cover spotting. We suspect that this is a one of a kind item which someone put together to have almost all of the architectural material in the larger set collected in a single volume. Statement on a small typed note tipped in at the bottom of a nicely-prepared new title-page: Note: there were 34 pages of plates devoted to architectural ornament in volume V of the complete set which are not included in this volume.
