Baum manages to create a story that is not intriguing in itself, but it is hilarious to read. Characters travelling to the Land of Monkeys where only Monkey is spoken, dogs that are kicked by the Monarch when there are no actual dogs living in Mo - these are the type of stories that can be found in The Surprising Adventures. This book will certainly delight the little audience with the fun characters and unpredictable stories, and even adults may have something hilarious to read about, as this great book comes from the master that created the Wizard of Oz and other beloved characters.
