Boston: Lee and Shepard, 1875. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Clean reddish-brown cloth boards with nice bright gold lettering and decoration on spine. Blind-stamped border decoration to front and rear board. Very small spots of wear to cloth at base of spine; one tiny spot of wear at base of front board. Trace of silverfishing to surface of rear board. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Yellow endpapers - no names, writing or marks, small19th century bookseller's ticket at lower corner of front pastedown. Pages are clean and bright, text block edges are clean. 409 pages + List of Books Recenty Published by Lee & Shepard at rear of book (six pages)..

Ex-library with stamps and on endpapers and title, owner's gift inscriptions on preliminary pages, extremities worn, a good only copy with newspaper clipping of author's portrait affixed onto copyright page. This is the fourth volume in the "Young America Abroad: Second Series.

New York: Lee and Shepard, 1875. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. Bright gilt spine lettering & decoration on blind stamped red covers in hand-made brown paper wrappers - which had kept this volume in very good condition! 12mo, 409 pages plus ads.. Ex- library copy - This is Volume No.10 of the West Bath (Maine) Library Association, with their label on the inside of the cover. The unusual library label says: "N. B. This book must not be lent out of the subscribers family, and if injured, all damage must be paid to the librarian. No volume can be kept over four weeks ; two weeks additional time will be allowed by having it renewed. A fine of two cents per day will be charged for a book kept over this time. A violation of these rules will result in a loss of membership.". Other than the brown paper wrapper pasted on the inside of the covers, and the library bookplate, this is a very good copy.
