(1st & 2d Before Publishing) Slightly smaller book, black cloth with gilt illustration of sun in flames at top front bright, gilt lettering bright bright on spine, dark yellow inside covers and adjacent end papers, ink name at top of first front end paper, 273 stiff lightly browned heavy pages. DJ price-clipped, glossy white with black cloud illustrated and colorful edges on front, white back lightly browned with praise from John Leonard, Joan Didion, Richard Locke and others. DJ has light crease and microtear at top front tip, tiny tear with slight wear at top front edge next to spine, micronicks with very slight wear at spine top edge, tiny but wider tear at spine bottom left edge, crease along bottom back edge. Good+ DJ/Fine book.
