About This Item

London: John Lane The Bodley Head Ltd. Very Good in Good+ dust jacket. 1926. First Edition. Hardcover. Black cloth bound boards with orange titling to the spine and orange frieze-type decorations to the front cover. In the original publisher's decorated dustjacket, which is not price-clipped. There is some edge-wear and tears to the dustjacket corners, which have been repaired to the inside of the d/j with clear archive tape. There is also a little loss to the top of the dustjacket spine. There is some foxing (brown spotting) to the page fore-edges, to the endpapers and to some of the page-edges/pages. There are NO inscriptions or other marks. (xx) + 257 pp. With Eight Illustrations in Colour, Sixty-Five (stated 65 - but actually more I think? ) in Half-Tone, and one Map. Index. Overall, apart from the 'faults', as detailed above, this is a Tight and Secure, Near 'Very Good' copy and quite scarce in the original d/j. "This is a Sketch Book of Sicily's scenery, native types, buildings, gardens and garden furniture, describing the arts and crafts wrought by the people of almost every nation of the civilised world who, each in turn, have conquered or colonised Sicily." ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
