About This Item
Cameron, WI: Phillips & Erickson, 1910 Badly worn booklet; original stapled binding, missing the covers but retaining the spine, first and last pages chipped and stained, a few inner pages also lightly chipped. Text browned; 173 pages, b/w photos. Scarce second expanded printing of this period account of northern Wisconsin land/lumber war: Deitz owned land on which there was a dam used by lumber companies; he wanted more than they claimed was owed to let their logs through. Lawsuits and gunfire ensued in which one of Deitz's sons and a sheriff's deputy were shot. This edition also contains an account of the 1910 incidents in which Deitz's children and finally he were captured. Significant property rights case which turned into the Ruby Ridge or Waco of its day.. Revised Second Edition. Paperback. Poor. 5¼" By 7".
