FIRST EDITION 1908, small 8vo, 128 x 80 mm, 5 x 3 inches, blue cloth illustrated on upper cover in black and red (2 children carrying a very large Dumpy book), tiny black and red vignettes at top and bottom of spine, coloured frontispiece and 23 coloured plates in blue, black and brown, pages: (4), 95. Text and plates printed 1 side only. Old neat inscription across top of front pastedown and endpaper, weakly crossed out (see image), otherwise a near Fine clean bright copy of this quite uncommon Dumpy book. This was the last in the series, No. 40, commissioned by Grant Richards but published by Chatto and Windus after Richards' bankruptcy in 1904.
