About This Item

Grosset & Dunlap, 1953. Hardcover. Very Good Plus/Very Good. 7x5x0. Douglas Gorsline. Nice looking Signature Book that is Hard to Find. Book and Dust Jacket are both in Very Good to Very Good Plus condition with a tight binding and mostly clean crisp pages. Inside text is very nice and may well be unread. There is a name written in the upper right hand corner of the first end page and some minor bend in the upper right hand corner of many pages- this is very minor. No other writing or marks in the book. This is NOT an ex-library book, but has come from a private collection. Outside cloth covers are nice with a bent to the upper right hand corner of the front cover. Dust Jacket is in Very Good condition with the same name written at the top of the front inside flap. There is some edge chipping primarily at the top and bottom of the outside spine area. Dust Jacket is now covered by a new clear mylar cover. Signature Books are easy to read and provide lively, entertaining, and factual stories about famous people. Though written simply enough for young readers, they make interesting reading for boys and girls well into their teens. One of the high points in the history of world civilization was the Elizabethan Age in England, when Englishmen were setting sail to explore the New World and when poets and playwrights like Ben Jonson and Will Shakespeare were fashioning the crown of English literature.
