London: J.M.Dent & Sons Ltd, 1953 8vo. original blue cloth gilt (ex-Boots library with label on upper board, cloth rubbed & a little worn at extremities, some leaf edge speckling, otherwise clean & bright internally); pp. x (last blank), 194 (last blank), with 24 illustrations & 14 maps. A reading copy. [Neate M188]. The relatively uncommon, true first edition published just before the ninth British expedition left for Nepal. It was revised three times in the same year, the second edition reporting the establishment of base camp in March, and the third rushing to print immediately following the first ascent of Everest on 29th May 1953. A fourth, definitive edition was subsequently issued.. First Edition. Hard Cover. G/No Jacket.
