Did you know the first sighting of land in 1623 was named Pannaway? Later it became Rye after a more permanent settlement took root in Dover, upriver from the coast. Chapters describe commercial ventures, sending shiploads back to England, and returning with more settlers with some moving inland, Algonquin native tales, individual residents, lots of work, and growing villages with passing years.
