London : Hodder and Stoughton , 1911 A very good copy of the first trade edition, in the original green decorative cloth binding with 28 fine tipped in colour plates by Edmund Dulac. Dulac designed the edition and the work has decorative endpapers, decorative borders to pages and decorated leaves before each tipped in plate. The plate images have been much reproduced since on posters and cards. The binding has bright gilt decoration and titles to the spine and front board. The spine is slightly browned and with some pulling to spine ends with a slight fray, particularly at the bottom. The front board has some lighter faded spots at the bottom corner; side edge and at the base close to the spine. There are some similar spots along the side edge of the back board. Corners with light wear. Contents are in near fine clean condition. There is some light toning to the free endpapers. The stitching backing is visible at p 136 but the book is sound.
