The first American edition of Stories and Fables and Other Diversions by Howard Nemerov.In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Howard Nemerov was an American poet and writer.This is one of three thousand copies of this first edition to have been set in Monotype Bembo and printed by The Stinehour Press. The paper is Mohawk Superfine. The book was bound by Robert Burlen and Son. The title page and dust wrapper were designed by John Benson. He was twice Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress, from 1963 to 1964 and 1988 to 1990. He won the National Book Award for Poetry, Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and the Bollingen Prize. This was Nemerov's first collection of short fiction since A Commodity of Dreams published in 1955. This collection of stories explores themes of love, friendship, relationships and forgiveness. It includes The Outage, The Executive, The Escapist and The Nature of The Task. In the original publisher's cloth in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart. Light marks to the dust wrapper. A small closed tear to the rear cover of the dust wrapper.
