All edges gilt, blind-stamped red and gilt cloth. WorldCat reports 13 editions in English published between 1838 and 1864, 6 copies of this one. 183? 159 pages, [7] leaves of plates : illustrations ; 15 cm. Also published as: Faithful dog and Bingley's Stories About Dogs. At 159 pages it is about 30 pages shorter than the English editions. Nafis & Cornish published mostly children's titles in the first half of the nineteenth century. Uneven fading to cloth boards. Two of eight plates missing. Pale damp stain to top half of plates. Contents generally clean. A good working copy.
