London: Metheun & Co., 1895. [x], 276,[32 ads.]pp. Octavo. First edition. Original dark blue cloth with gold gilt decorations and lettering stamped to the front board and spine. Edges untrimmed. Rubbing along the edges of the boards; bumping to the corners, as well as the head and tail of the spine. Spine slightly faded. Very mild toning to the endpapers. Slight slant to spine. Ex-library rubber stamps to the front pastedown, near the top and bottom edge, else internally clean. Overall, a fairly well preserved copy. Number 6 in the Wells Society. This volume contains fifteen short stories, which were all written and printed 1893-5 in various publications, though most in The Pall Mall Budget. 1895
