Rapp & Whiting. London. 1969. FIRST EDITION. LIMITED EDITION. (10.2 x 11.2 inches). One of only 50 numbered copies, signed, with extra title, and portrait of Harold Macmillan, all in black ink on the half title page, by Steadman. The page has the books printed title beneath which Steadman has written, " or Decayed Decade. Ralph Steadman. June '69.", beneath this he has drawn a portrait of a decaying Macmillan and numbered this copy "26/50". A very good copy in the publishers brown cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. Illustrated endpapers printed in brown on white paper. In the original colour illustrated dustwrapper, designed by Steadman. The price (63s) still intact on the inner front flap. One small (about 1 inch) closed tear, without loss, to the top edge has been neatly repaired with archive tape to the rear. Overall a very good copy of Steadman's biting satire of the 1960's including the wonderful images of the Beatles as Goya style Bats, Francis Bacon's Christmas party and his own redrawing of several of William Hogarth's most famous works.
