A useful and richly-informative circular providing a snapshot view of the textile trade in 1857 from a firm based in the industry hub, the city of Manchester. Stavert, Zigomala, & Co. informs on many levels, e.g. "The derangement which appears to have taken place in the over-supplied markets of Turkey, Syria, and Palestine, has considerably contracted the demands for T Cloths, Longcloths, and the descriptions of Mock Water Twist and other Yarns suitable for this markets" [and for Glasgow:] "Printed goods continue in good request...Spun Silks are still advancing...Printed handkerchiefs and Turkey Red Cloths are without change..."

Mexican T Cloths, Grey Maddapolams, 7-8ths Grey Power-Loom Printers (English and American), Scotch Goods, lines, burlaps, canvass, hemp carpeting are but a sample of such goods. Per "Africa" is printed at the top left corner of the circular.
Enclosed with this circular is a price report from Mobile, Alabama from a W.J. Peckham dated 1859, a 1-page quarto. This circular provides price quotations and information along the lines of the above. Manchester circular. Both items are rare.
