Works Sam Merwin Jr., William Campbell Gault, Jack Vance, H. B. Fyfe, John D. MacDonald, Alexander Samalman. This is a solid FAIR copy. The cover is edge chipped/soft. Tape repair to the entire spine. Internally, pages are surprisingly fresh considering pulp quality from near 70 years ago. No markings. Certainly suitable to read stories or flip through and enjoy the illustrations, ads, articles and etc. Preserved in an acid-free archival bag. FUN FACT 1: Jack Vance has won many different awards over his career, including multiple Hugo Awards. With a lifetime achievement award in 1984, and deemed Grand Master in 1997, Jack Vance has been described as one of the greatest science fiction and fantasy writers of the 20th Century. He created the Dying Earth Series, and after is passing at 96, tributes to him were written by many famous writers such as George RR Martin, Michael Moorcock, Neil Gaiman, Elizabeth Bear and others. FUN FACT 2: This is a scarce science fiction story by John D. MacDonald, better known for his hardboiled thrillers and character Travis McGee. (Wiki). Startling Stories first launched in 1939, and after 13 years in circulation, it came to an end in 1955. There was a brief rebirth in 2007, lasting approximately 5 years.
