About This Item
New York: The Viking Press, 1937. Hardcover. First Edition, First Printing. 5.25 x 8.5in. 217pp. Publisher's cloth boards. VERY GOOD in Good dust jacket protected in a removable archival cover. The book itself shows a slight slant, paste-downs toned, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct. The dust jacket with the spine faded, some chipping and creasing along the extremities, price-clipped, otherwise remains colorful, and distinct. As pictured.
Reviews
On Apr 16 2021, a reader said:
Published first in 1937, this story is about the spread of a fantastic idea that Martians are bombarding us with cosmic rays to change our genetics. This is an idea that serves to let Wells explore a thought experiment of how people can be swept up by ideas that have little or no basis in fact, making this novel still relevant today.
