About This Item
Hardcover first edition, with dust jacket, published by Scribners 1954. One of several 'Young Adult' titles that Heinlein wrote in the 1950's, this one is about 'Lummox' the unusual pet of the Stuart family. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped, original first state price of $2.50 printed on the top corner of the front flap. The dust jacket has some minor edge wear primarily at the heel of the spine area, some rubbing at the edges, a smudge mark just to the left of the beast's head, no major rips or tears. The jacket has been protected with a clear, removable, Brodart brand cover. Black cloth covered boards with the author's name and title on the spine in bright blue, and the title in bright blue on the front board. First state code 'A' printed on the copyright page to the right of 'Printed in the United States of America', with the Scribner Press medallion on the left side of the page. 282 pages. All lettering is crisp and not rubbed or worn. One tiny dot of edge wear to the lower corner of the back board, one dot at the heel of the spine. Corners of the boards are straight and not bumped or creased. Cover art by Clifford Geary, who also did the art for the paste down pages, and title page as well. Former owner's name typed on a small label pasted to the ffep, about 1-1/2" inch long, 1/2" wide. No writing on the text pages. This is not a library discard copy. The binding is tight and square. Edges of the text block are clean. We have several Heinlein titles listed. Attached are photos of the copy we have in our inventory.

Recently, the USPS has added tracking to Media Mail , which has been a great addition to this service. If you do choose to have your order shipped "Expedited", my shipping cost may seem higher than expected.
