"Meyerowitz was invited to contribute his view of the city by the St Louis Art Museum in the fall of 1977. Four visits and four hundred images produced this fascinating take on the towering Gateway Arch and surrounding metropolis. He began photographing in color in 1962 and was an early advocate of the use of color during a time when there was significant resistance to the idea of color photography as serious art.". Black cloth boards in dust jacket, oblong quarto [10.75" x 9.75"], heavily illustrated in color, including one that folds out. Book has mild rubbing and edgewear to boards and spine, binding tight, Meyerowitz's signatures to front flyleaf and half-title page, otherwise text clean and unmarked, faint foxing to edges of block. DJ has edgewear that includes a few small tears and their related creases, rubbing and mild toning, now in archival mylar wrap.
