A small animal has at some time been nibbling the spine of the book about a third of the way up on the left hand side, with the result that a piece about half an inch wide and an inch and a half long is missing from the spine strip and corresponding piece of dustwrapper. Actually sounds worse than it looks. Also the unclipped dustwrapper has some small tears and creases to the edges. Otherwise a good clean copy, with the gilt titles still bright on the spine, of this hard-cover historical novel for older children. Set in mid-thirteenth century Scotland, the story deals with the adventures of the author's character ''Richard de Brun'' who also appears in the author's novel ''Lances and Longships''. 175pp, some b&w drawings.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair/Fair. Illus. by Relf, Douglas. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
